Ways To Thank Someone Simply Noted SimplyNoted

When you’re crafting your thank you message, keep the following things in mind:

Be specific about what you’re thanking them for. In all likelihood, they already know why you’re sending a thank you, but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t talk about it. Make sure they know that you know the extent of the support they gave you.

Make it personal. Use heartfelt words that specifically target your recipient. Use their first name and include details only they’ll know. Their kindness was personal, and your thank you should be, too. If you have a tough time with this, keep an image of your recipient in your mind, and the support they gave you, and then write as if you were speaking directly to them.

Avoid the generic “thank you”. This falls in line with our last suggestion. Consider these two examples:

“Thank you for always being there for me. You are a good friend and I appreciate your support. You’re the best!”

or

“Sally! Thank you for taking the time to help me with my resume yesterday. Job searching is such a pain, but with you in my life it’s much easier! My gratitude is boundless. Thank you for your support. Also thank you for reaching out. I hope this simple note is enough!”

Of these two examples, the first is generic and dull. It could apply to anyone, and so it makes very little impact. The second is specific to your recipient and shows that you were paying attention.

Keep it short and sweet. Use kind words and don’t over-complicate things. A few sentences expressing your gratitude is all you need. Too many words and your sentiment can become muddled.

There are so many reasons to be grateful, and so many people to thank for their help. Knowing how to put your gratitude into words can be difficult, but it’s worth the effort. The people who have helped you deserve to know just how much you appreciate them. Use one of the phrases we’ve suggested, or come up with your own.
