Need for speed controller setup

I am using a gioteck ps3 wired controller to play most of my controller games, in this there is a menu that detects the controller and gives you the option to sync the appropriate buttons, which is really nice. However, for whatever reason my controller wont sync, the game does pick up when the controller buttons are pressed as the message “this controller has not been setup yet” pops up every time i push a button, but when in the button assigning after pressing enter to press a button on my game-pad nothing happens, until it goes back to the menu. Now I have got a program that emulates any controller into an xbox 360 controller and this worked, but it was still picking up the controller as not setup while i could use it as an xbox 360 one. so in effect my controller is 2 controllers to the game and i can’t figure out :
Why the controller won’t sync
How to get it to only use the xbox emulated version of the controller, as opposed to both.

If anyone can help me on this it would be greatly appreciated
PS: there is no official driver software for my controller that I could see. Just the one that came with it

Snowy10 Jul, 2013 @ 7:49amI think it’s broken, I tried to setup a Thrustmaster Ferrari wheel and it found it, but everytime I try to input a control it jumps to either left or forward, even though the wheel is configured and works on Most Wanted, F1 2013, and Dirt 2 & 3.
Can’t see them patching it either. I hunted the web for a fix and only found a lot of upset PS3 players with the same problems on their controllers. 🙁

after a littlebit of messing around i decided to settle for keyboard, unfortunatley i realized that its not just my controller I couldn’t change the bindings of, i couldn’t for any of them. I wanted to change some keyboard controls and couldn’t as it did the same thing, it would let me get to it and press enter but wouldn’t respond to anything after I pressed enter. HELP 🙁

I can’t change my controls too, its a joke.

I’ve been able to get it working with the XBOXCE (xbox controller emulator). I usually have to screw with it to get the stupid warning about the controller not being set up though.

I figured it out. After you install XBox CE you end up with TWO entries for your controller in the menu: one for the “Xbox” controller that your emulating and one for a generic controller. You have to go into the settings for that generic controller and bind the steering, acceleration and breaking. Make sure you bind them to the same buttons you have on the “XBox” controller settings.

Thanks gunvalkyrie, your solution helped (I had the same problem in NFS Most Wanted, but the solution is this same) But is another problem. In game menu displayed button hints. When you have only one controller (without x360ce), this hints appear all the time. But when you set this same buttons on “emulated controller” and “original controller”, then this hints pulse. By a few milliseconds displays for example “A” and next it disappear. So I found a better solution. Describe it in my example.

1. First go to folder C:\Users\(username)\Documents\Criterion Games\Need For Speed(TM) Most Wanted\Save\(your number).
2. There is “controls.NFS13Save” file. Open it on notepad. In section [Configs] we have some instructions:

0=KEYBOARD
1=Xbox 360 controller ….
2=EX10 GAMEPAD

So in my case it is 3 controllers. 1 – keyboard, 2 – emulated x360ce controller, 3 – original gamepad EX10.

3. Go to the original controller [Config_EX10 GAMEPAD] section (when you have another controller go to them) in “controls.NFS13Save” file.
4. Becouse my gamepad have 12 buttons, so in each function I wrote “0,BUTTON_16,0.00,1.00”. My file now looks that:

STEERLEFT=0,BUTTON_16,0.00,1.00
STEERRIGHT=0,BUTTON_16,0.00,1.00
ACCELERATE=0,BUTTON_16,0.00,1.00
BRAKE=0,BUTTON_16,0.00,1.00
HANDBRAKE=0,BUTTON_16,0.00,1.00
HORN=0,BUTTON_16,0.00,1.00
…

All functions are performed by a single button 16. Becouse I haven’t this button on controller, so this functions from original gamepad will never be used. After doing this I don’t have “controller not setup” message, and button hints don’t pulse.

Dude I did that and everytime a click a button it automatically crashes, how do I revert it what was the original buttons ples help manI think that the best solution would be to remove “controls.NFS13Save” file and it automaticly generate new file when you run the game. But it is strange, because for me it work without a problems.

xbox 360 controller for pc is awsome works with almost ever pc game

all u have to do when trying to config the buttons on your Ferrari Red Wheel, is to have both the gas and brake pedals held down about half way.
If you do this and are holding the pedals right.. you can configure all the buttons. 🙂 Enjoy

im having the same problem with the “this controller has not been setup yet” message. ive told the game to use xbox/windows controller but the message still pops up and the setting doesnt sve.
