Faissal, a Palestinian fashion designer in Dubai who has a brand that creates mainly women’s ready to wear and some men’s wear. Faissal El-Malak’s clothing brand is a middle eastern regional intellectual brand that tells a contemporary story of the region through the use of traditional craft. Faisal focuses on using cultural references to reflect the identity as a whole. The successful fashion designers state that it is hard to define what success is and at what point do you stop and say you’re happy and satisfied because “you can be on a magazine and all that but commercially it’s another story.” Faissal genuinely advises new designers “to be true to their vision, to be true to the story that they are telling and to have something to say.” Ending the conversation with the fashion designer, he explains that fashion designers should not get too involved in trends because then they will lose themselves.
