DJI Updates Fly App To Support Mini 3 Pro Drone

DJI Updates Fly App to Support Mini 3 Pro Drone

With the release of the pocket-sized DJI Mini 3 Pro and the RC1 remote controller, DJI has also released an update to the DJI Fly App to support it.

The update opens up the same advanced functions for drone pilots using their smartphones to control the UAV, plus expands the capability of the Mini 3 Pro itself with expected advanced flight and filming modes.

The DJI Mini 3 Pro is the latest compact drone in the company’s arsenal, that weighs less than 249g in order to skirt many of the drone regulations that kick in over that weight limit. DJI says that while the Mini 3 Pro is aimed at beginners and enthusiasts, it’s the safest drone in the sky for that category.

The drone can stay aloft for over 34 minutes and an optional extended smart battery can also keep the Mini 3 Pro aloft for over 47 minutes.

The Mini 3 Pro provides ActiveTrack flight following, tri-directional obstacle sensing, and 90° gimbal rotation to shoot high-quality vertical imaging for social media.

Firmware version 01.00.0100 unlocks many expected key features hyped in the DJI Mini 3 Pro release including flight modes like FocusTrack and Advanced Pilot Assistance Systems (APAS) 4.0.

On top, users get access to filming modes including Vertical Video Shooting, Hyperlapse, MasterShots, QuickShots, QuickTransfer, Panorama capture, and the listed shooting modes: 4K/48p, 4K/50p, 4K/60p, and 1080/120p.

Improvements to image quality and flight stability have also been revised in the update.

Meanwhile, the optional RC-N1 controller also gets a matching firmware update, 04.14.0117, while the new DJI RC controller released alongside the Mini 3 Pro, has the same firmware update as the drone itself, vs. 01.00.0100.

To update any or all of the firmware versions available, users should connect to their iOS or Google Play app stores and download the latest version 1.6.1 of the DJI Fly App.

Connect the app to the devices, and it will automatically update the devices. Make sure that all batteries are completely charged before attempting the update.

Once the drone powers up and connects to the app, users will be prompted to activate the Mini 3 Pro, and then the drone’s firmware will be installed. Users will need to update the RC-N1 remote in a similar fashion, while the DJI RC will be updated as well. The updates can also be downloaded through the DJI Support site.
