Countries That Supported Russia Against Ukraine
Ground Report | New Delhi: Countries that supported Russia against Ukraine; The Ukraine crisis that has been going on for weeks has now almost reached a state of war. Countries like America, Britain claim that the war has started.
Russia’s Foreign Ministry has appealed to other countries of the world to recognize Donetsk and Luhansk, two separatist-ruled areas in eastern Ukraine, following Russia’s example.
Russian President Vladimir Putin on Monday recognized the separatist rebel region of eastern Ukraine as an independent territory.
The self-proclaimed People’s Republic of Donetsk and Luhansk in eastern Ukraine are home to Russian-backed rebels. These rebels have been fighting Ukraine since 2014.
Earlier on Tuesday, Nicaragua and Syria supported Russia’s decision to recognize Donetsk and Luhansk.
Although Russia has recognized these two separatist rebel areas, no country has recognized it, although South Ossetia, another Russia-backed separate region, gave its support to the rulers there in 2015.
South Ossetia is a separate part of Georgia, which was declared independent in 2008 after Russian military intervention. It has got recognition from some Moscow allies.
While Western countries including America are condemning Russia, some voices are now being heard in support of Russian President Putin.
Cuba’s communist government has accused Western countries of spreading war propaganda and targeting Russia.
North Korea has already accused the US of Russia. North Korea said earlier this month that it was adopting a hostile policy of isolating and weakening the US. North Korea called for its end. Iranian media has also expressed sympathy for Moscow’s action on the Ukraine issue.
