What is DeX and What Can I Use it For?
Samsung DeX is a feature shipped with top-of-the-line Galaxy phones such as the S and Note series since 2017 (Starting with the S8). It has improved year over year.
DeX allows you to cast what you have on your Samsung phone to a larger display such as a monitor, PC, or smart Tv with Miracast.
There are two methods of connection. You can either connect using an HDMI cable/adapter or wirelessly. Note that if you are connecting wirelessly to Mac or Windows PCs, you must download an app called Samsung DeX for Pc onto your computer.
While Emulators allows you to use your smartphone’s apps on your Pc, this is not what DeX is. It is better in the sense that, each app is optimized for a large display and as such works more efficiently than what any Emulator can offer.
Do you know the cool part? While DeX configuration/connection is still On, your galaxy device can still be used for every other phone function including but not limited to making and receiving calls as well as sending and receiving text messages.
Final Thought
Samsung phones with DeX allow you to use your galaxy device as a phone and as a computer.
This feature is currently only available for Samsung flagships. I would have loved to see it on the upper mid-range Galaxy phones such as the A71, A51, A72, A52 series, A53 5G, and A73 5G but they do not support it.
Which is a little surprising because these phones are powered by powerful mid-range processors, and I think they can handle the workload though won’t be as easy as they will be for a Galaxy S or Galaxy Note series.
The Good thing is that, if this feature is really a priority for you, you can get any of the old Galaxy Note or S phones launched in 2017 or after such as the S8, because they are now cheap.
